Incubatio is a work based on an archaic practice of the same name, which originated in Western Asia, on the far margins of the Eastern Greek world, and which spread and developed during the classical period throughout the southern Italian peninsula. A healing technique that consisted of lying down in a sacred place, a cavern or temple, in order to enter a state beyond daytime consciousness, until one ended up having a vision or dream with healing capabilities. In these rituals, the sick person or person who was initiated through this practice was not alone, there were people in charge of the place called iatromantis, masters in the functioning of the process who accompanied the patient to reach what he needed to know without hindering the experience.

Inspired by this practice, Incubatio is a scenic creation that recreates these archetypal visions or dreams with the support of an innovative technology specially created for this project. A work for two dancers that combines dance, interactive music, visual imagery supported by artificial intelligence models created for this project. The work is developed in a scenic format of expanded reality (XR). A context in which the audience can see projected visual content experienced through Virtual Reality by one of the performers.
